Now that's it's not raining in Florida everyday, I finally took my car in for wash, car washes are surprisingly busy at 2pm on a weekday by the way, and wow my car needed it.

So I normally don't bother during summer since it rains literally everyday, but what is the normal amount to do this? Monthly?

  • #2
Usually once every 1-2 weeks, depending on how dirty it is. I drive a Mustang and it shines when it's clean, can't stand it being dirty.

In the summer I hand wash my car, any other time I find touchless car washes to go through. Sometimes I'll just go to the places where you pay like $1.75 for three minutes of power washing with the wand.

Floridian here. Also thinking about taking the car to the wash now that the rainy season's done.

I never get my car washed enough. I do it maybe once a month if I remember. Been needing to vacuum the inside of it for ages and still haven't done it...

I'd admiring between rain and a good wash right now.

Plus they do the inside.

Once a year at the end of winter to get the road salt off. It never get's that dirty though, I have a garage and a short commute.

Like once a 1.5 month, I always make sure it's a Polish car wash though.

I haven't washed my car since probably July. We've been in a rainy streak so it doesn't make sense. Also, it's expensive to go through the car wash so I prefer to save the money.

I live in a street with a lot of birds and unfortunately a lot of bird shit. Once every two or three weeks?

I take it through a gas station car wash once a month.

I hand wash every 1-2 weeks in the summer, and occasionally coin-op pressure wash it in the winter.

Clay and wax in the spring.

2009 Corolla that I bought new after gas hit $4.25 and filling my 2007 Ram Hemi Quad Cab cost over $100 a tank (and getting 15mpg)...I hate this car, but I love it because it won't F'ing die.

Washed it 5 times, ever. I love/hate this car.

Once every month or two when the weather is decent.

Winter becomes really awkward, as I know I should wash it more often to get the salt off, but we have no garage and there are huge portions of the winter where it never goes above freezing. Even if you wash it and then carefully dry off all the doors and everything you still get ice build-up and it sucks.

It gets a substantial cleaning and waxing before and after the winter, though.

My wife's got a 2005 Corolla with over 170K miles. You'll have yours for longer, these cars (and most cars in general) won't die after 9 years anymore.

I wash my car 3/4 times a year maybe. More during the winter but vacuum on a consistent basis.

Rain washes it enough for me.

I'll wash it once after winter, but that's it.

I'm fine with just the rain. When I had a silver car it worked best (have a darker grey/gunmetal now) but that hides most of basic dirt.

Just wondering for those who wash once a year, how often do you change the oil and other routine maintenance?

I used to do it every other weekend but I got into a minor accident last December so I haven't bothered since then cause it'll still look like shit.

I detail the interior/hand wash/wax my vehicle once a year and then run it through an automatic car wash once or twice during the summer and once a month during the winter.

My vehicle is garage kept, driven once a week, and 10yrs old now.

At least once a week, I would do it less often but my boss wants my wagon looking good for pizza delivery

The rain does not wash the grime off your car.
Bigkrev

I get my car washed more for the interior than the exterior. I'd probably say I get 2-3 car washes per year, unless a bird takes a particualry giant shit on my car, at which point i'll go just to get that cleaned up

When I used to park under trees, whenever it got covered in pollen. Now that I dont never. We get so much rain in NJ it usually cleans itself, plus I'm only driving on paved roads.

I have the same thing. Had an oil leak and needed to replace all breaks this year, but it's still running strong.

Once every month or 2, unless it gets dirty somehow earlier. I try to use the touchless car washes at gas stations.

I shake out the floor mats periodically sure but it's not like I eat in my car or anything.

As recommended by the manual. My car is over 10 years old, never had any major issues. Not sure why a layer of dust or water spots from the rain would an indication of not taking care of a vehicle.

yeah put me in the 'when it rains' category. Nobody cares what my little Toyota looks like, least of all me.

typically I take it whenever the inside is dirty. the one near me has free vacuums so I figure for $10 the outside is clean and then I clean the inside. also go a few times in winter to get the salt off

i'd guess every 6-8 weeks in general

Once a month in the summer. Every other week in the winter because Ohio winters + road salt will fuck your shit up.

Once a week washed and once every 6 weeks waxed. I have a pass at my local car wash for $10/month. I live in an area that uses a ton of salt in the winter and I don't want my car to rust. In the summer, I want to keep the pollen and bird poop off.

Every other time I buy gas, so about twice a month.

I've been thinking about doing it more often, after only owning white cars I bought a dark blue Mazda 3 recently and it shows dust a lot more than I'm used to. I live in an apartment though so I can't wash it at home, and it's annoying paying for and waiting to go through the wash at the gas station.

Depends. Usually 2-3 times a month in the spring, summer, and fall. Winters in Illinois means a lot of salt gets on it and it's impossible to keep clean so usually just once every few weeks.
noomi

about once every two weeks or so, depends on how dirty my ride gets.

I did a wash like 2 hours ago so I should be good for a bit.
